Wireless Range & Battery Performance
Sizing & fit

Wireless Range & Battery Performance

The CS50 uses DECT 6.0 technology to deliver a wireless range of up to 300 feet in typical office environments. Actual range depends on building materials and other wireless devices in your space, but most users can move freely between adjacent rooms and down hallways without dropping calls.

Battery life provides up to 10 hours of continuous talk time, which covers a full workday for most professionals. When you finish a call, simply dock the headset on the base station to recharge. A full recharge takes approximately three hours, and the base features an LED indicator that shows charging status at a glance.

Styling

Convertible Wearing Styles

We designed the CS50 with two distinct wearing options because comfort matters during long conference calls. The over-the-head configuration distributes weight evenly and stays secure during active movement around your workspace.

The over-the-ear style hooks gently behind your ear and works well if you prefer not to disturb your hairstyle or wear glasses that might interfere with headband-style headsets. Both configurations use the same lightweight earpiece and microphone boom, which weighs just 0.7 ounces total. The microphone boom rotates 300 degrees so you can wear the headset on either ear.

Perfect for my home office setup
I work from home and needed wireless freedom while on client calls. The CS50 lets me walk to my file cabinet or check my calendar across the room without putting callers on hold. Sound quality is excellent on both ends, and the battery lasts my entire workday.

Comfortable for all-day wear
I spend 6-7 hours daily on the phone with customers. The over-the-head style stays comfortable even during back-to-back calls, and I appreciate being able to switch to the ear loop on days when I want a different feel. Very lightweight compared to my old wired headset.

Great range throughout our office
We have an open floor plan, and I can walk anywhere in our 2,500 square foot space without losing connection. The only time I notice any audio dropout is when I go into the stairwell, but that’s outside the rated range anyway.

Easy setup with our Cisco phones
I’m not technical, but I had this connected and working in about three minutes. The quick-start guide was actually quick, and the right cable adapter was clearly labeled for our phone model. No frustration at all.

Battery life exceeded my expectations
I charge it overnight and use it all day without any low-battery warnings. Even on my busiest days with four or five hours of actual talk time, I still have plenty of charge left when I leave the office.

Noise canceling works well
We have an active office environment with lots of background conversation. My clients tell me they can hear me clearly without the office noise coming through. The microphone positioning makes a difference compared to speakerphone mode on my desk phone.

CS50 Frequently Asked Questions

The CS50 is designed for traditional analog desk phones with a headset port. It connects through the telephone interface cable to your desk phone’s dedicated headset jack.

For VoIP softphone applications running on your computer, you would need a different headset model with USB connectivity. The CS50 specifically serves users who make calls through a physical desk phone rather than computer-based systems.

You’ll notice the battery needs replacement when talk time drops significantly below the original 10-hour specification. If you find yourself needing to recharge the headset multiple times during a single workday, or if the headset powers off unexpectedly during calls, those are signs the battery has reached the end of its usable life.

Typical battery lifespan ranges from 18 to 24 months depending on usage patterns. We offer replacement batteries separately, and the swap process takes just a few minutes with a small screwdriver.

No, the CS50 connects exclusively to desk phones through a wired connection to the phone’s headset port. It does not have Bluetooth capability for pairing with cell phones or smartphones.

If you need wireless connectivity to mobile devices, we offer different headset models in our Voyager series that feature Bluetooth technology for smartphone pairing.

DECT 6.0 provides longer wireless range than Bluetooth, typically up to 300 feet compared to Bluetooth’s 30-foot range. DECT also operates on a different frequency band than Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, which reduces interference in offices with many wireless devices.

For desk phone use specifically, DECT technology delivers more reliable connections across larger office spaces. The CS50 uses DECT 6.0 to maintain clear audio quality even when you move between rooms or down hallways away from your desk.

The CS50 uses a noise-canceling microphone with a directional pickup pattern focused on your voice. The microphone boom positions close to your mouth and actively filters out sounds coming from other directions.

While no microphone eliminates all background noise in extremely loud environments, the CS50’s noise-canceling technology significantly reduces ambient office sounds like keyboards, printers, and nearby conversations. Most users report that callers hear them clearly without noticeable background interference.

Without an optional handset lifter accessory, you need to press the call answer button on your desk phone manually before the CS50 headset can pick up the audio. The headset’s one-touch button controls the headset side of the call, but your desk phone still requires physical interaction to initiate the connection.

Adding an HL10 handset lifter allows completely remote call answering. The lifter physically raises your desk phone’s handset when you press the answer button on the CS50, enabling true hands-free operation from anywhere within wireless range.

A complete recharge from empty to full capacity takes approximately three hours. The base station features an LED charging indicator that shows red while charging and turns off when the battery reaches full charge.

For daily use, most professionals dock the headset between calls and overnight, which keeps the battery topped off. You don’t need to wait for a full discharge before recharging, as the lithium-ion battery doesn’t develop memory issues from partial charge cycles.
