Plantronics BackBeat Fit – Sweatproof Wireless Sport Headphones
We built the BackBeat Fit for athletes who refuse to choose between sound quality and situational awareness. The over-ear loop design stays secure through sprints, climbs, and interval training, while the open-ear cushions let ambient noise through so you can hear traffic, trail partners, and your surroundings.
The P2i-coated nano-coating repels sweat and moisture from every internal component. Reflective strips on the cable catch headlights during early-morning or evening runs. You get eight hours of continuous playback on a full charge, and the cushioned armband case doubles as a storage pouch that protects the earbuds between workouts.
What makes the BackBeat Fit stand out

Sweatproof construction and weather resistance
Every BackBeat Fit earpiece carries P2i nano-coating on internal circuitry, speaker mesh, and connector points. This military-grade hydrophobic layer repels moisture at the molecular level, so sweat from hot yoga sessions or unexpected rain during a trail run won’t short the electronics.
We test each unit through simulated sweat exposure equivalent to fifty hours of high-intensity cardio. The coating doesn’t wear off with repeated cleaning—wipe down the earbuds with a damp cloth after every workout, and the nano-layer continues to protect. The same material science that keeps circuits dry also prevents salt and mineral buildup from clogging the speaker grills, which is why audio clarity stays consistent even after months of daily gym use.

Always-aware open-ear audio design
Traditional in-ear tips create a seal that blocks external sound. We designed the plantronics backbeat fit with an open-ear cushion that rests lightly against your ear canal without plugging it, so you hear your playlist and your environment simultaneously.
This matters for road runners who need to detect approaching cars, cyclists navigating shared paths, and gym-goers who want to catch a trainer’s cues during group classes. You don’t sacrifice bass response—the 13.5 mm drivers still deliver full-range audio—but you gain the ability to react to horns, voices, and hazards without pausing your music. Many of our customers wear these during commuter bike rides specifically because the open-ear design meets their city’s headphone safety ordinances.
Reflective cable and low-light visibility
The flat cable connecting both earbuds features a woven reflective thread that catches and returns light from car headlights, streetlamps, and bike lamps. When a vehicle’s high beams sweep across you during a pre-dawn run, the cable lights up like a safety vest.
We chose a flat tangle-resistant design rather than round wire to maximize the reflective surface area. The cable also reduces wind noise—round cables whistle and thump against your neck when you pick up speed, but the flat profile stays quiet even at a sprinting pace. Reflective stitching runs the full length from the inline remote to both earpiece strain reliefs, giving drivers multiple reference points to gauge your position on the roadside.

Common questions about the BackBeat Fit
The P2i nano-coating protects against sweat and light rain, but the BackBeat Fit is not submersion-rated. You can wear them during drizzle or heavy perspiration without damage, but we don’t recommend swimming, showering, or submerging them in water.
For poolside or beach workouts, keep the earbuds in the armband case when not actively wearing them. Saltwater is more corrosive than freshwater, so rinse the earpieces with tap water if they’re exposed to ocean spray.
The plantronics backbeat fit delivers full-range audio with clear mids and highs, but bass response is slightly reduced compared to sealed in-ear tips. The tradeoff is intentional—ambient noise blending with your music keeps you aware of traffic, other athletes, and environmental hazards.
If you’re running on a treadmill indoors or in a controlled environment where isolation is safe, sealed earbuds will give you deeper bass. For outdoor runs, cycling, and gym environments where you need to hear instructions or warnings, the open-ear design provides better situational awareness without sacrificing clarity.
You receive the BackBeat Fit headset with attached cable, a neoprene armband carrying case, a micro-USB charging cable, and a quick-start guide. The armband fits upper arm circumferences from nine to seventeen inches.
No additional ear tips or loops are included because the silicone loop is adjustable and the open-ear cushion is a fixed one-size design. If you need replacement cushions after extended use, contact our support team directly.
DeepSleep mode puts the headset into ultra-low-power standby but does not unpair it from your phone. When you press the power button after DeepSleep activates, the BackBeat Fit reconnects to the last paired device within three seconds.
You’ll know DeepSleep is active if the LED indicator doesn’t flash when the headset is idle. To manually activate DeepSleep before the ninety-minute timer, power off the headset completely using the main button.
The silicone loop is flexible and bends to fit different ear shapes. Slide the earpiece forward along the loop to increase tension and create a tighter grip, or slide it backward to reduce pressure. The loop memory holds your adjustment through workouts.
If the loop still feels uncomfortable after adjustment, warm the silicone under hot tap water for thirty seconds to make it more pliable, then reshape it to match your ear contour. Let it cool in the desired position before wearing.
The reflective threading catches and returns direct light sources like car headlights, streetlamps, and flashlights. In total darkness with no light source, the cable is dark gray and not self-illuminated.
Multiple customers have reported drivers slowing down or giving wider clearance after spotting the reflective cable during early-morning runs. The effect is most noticeable when vehicle headlights are angled toward you, which is exactly when you need the visibility boost.
The BackBeat Fit uses Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP stereo streaming and supports SBC codec. It does not support aptX, aptX HD, AAC, or LDAC. Connection range is thirty-three feet in open space with minimal interference.
Pairing mode activates automatically on first power-up. For subsequent pairing to a new device, hold the power button for five seconds until the LED flashes red and blue.
